A local Catholic Church leader has passed away in Bakersfield this evening.
According to the St. Philip the Apostle Church, Monsignor Raul Sanchez passed away this evening at 6:41 p.m.
A post written on the church's Facebook page said he was, "surrounded by his family" at the time of his passing.
Monsignor Sanchez was recovering from a recent heart attack.
