Posted

On June 1, 2017, at approximately 7:48 a.m, Kern County Sheriff’s Office Delano substation deputies were dispatched to the report of a stolen Chevrolet truck in the Delano area.

The vehicle was located near Casey Avenue and Cecil Avenue.  The vehicle was occupied by a male subject, later identified as 35-year-old Adrian Hernandez of Delano.

Deputies attempted to stop the stolen vehicle.  Hernandez fled in the stolen vehicle and led Deputies on a pursuit lasting several minutes.  Hernandez drove the vehicle onto a dirt road South of County Line Road and East of Melcher Road.  Hernandez ran from the vehicle and hid in a nearby orchard.

Deputies from the Wasco Substation, Buttonwillow Substation and Officers from the Delano Police Department responded and set up a perimeter around the orchard.    Deputies searched for Hernandez with help from a Kern County Sheriff’s Office K-9.  Hernandez was located and taken into custody without incident.

Hernandez was booked into the Kern County Jail for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Evading a Peace Officer.
