BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A Murray Family Farms employee was assaulted with a large stick during an attempted robbery Friday morning, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said.
At 11:20am, KCSO responded to a report of a robbery at the business on the 6700 block of General Beale Road.
When they arrived, deputies say they found 25-year-old Juan Moreno armed with pruning shears.
Moreno didn’t respond to deputies' commands, so deputies used less-lethal force to take him into custody, KCSO said.
Moreno is being treated at a hospital as a precaution, and then will be booked into the Central Receiving Facility.
Moreno will face charges including robbery, resisting arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon, KCSO said.
The employee declined medical attention, officials said.
