Scam Alert Seminar for Seniors

Posted

The Kern County Aging and Adult Services will host a Scam Alert seminar for seniors, Wednesday morning.

The seminar will focus on the scams most commonly found in Kern County, including, the "Grandparent" scam, IRS Tax scam, contractor scams and identity theft.

It known that seniors are one of the most targeted groups of people by scammers and are more likely to fall for a scam.

"What we want all our seniors to do is just slow it down, take a few more minutes to think about it and get anothers input," said Jeremy Oliver, Program Director with Aging and Adult Services. "We encourage family members to make sure you're there for your family members."

Today scam alert seminar begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Ben Austin Bakersfield Greenfield Senior Center at 1751 McKee Road in Southwest Bakersfield. It is free to attend.
