Kern County Board of Supervisors release preliminary budget, will talk big cuts

Posted

The Kern County Board of Supervisors will be talking big cuts for their annual budget at their next meeting on Tuesday.

The preliminary recommended budget predicts they will have to cut 5% of the Net General Fund due to the decline in the oil and gas industry.

They acknowledge more layoffs are likely.

An increase in spending is also predicted for other departments, like Mental Health as they are expanding services.
