BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Fire investigators are looking for the cause of a house fire that forced two people out of their home late Monday night.

Bakersfield and Kern County Fire Department crews could see heavy smoke and flames coming from the house on Carl Lane just after 10 p.m. Firefighters immediately went into the home to search for any occupants but were forced outside when the roof began to collapse.

Officials located two people who lived in the home that had escaped before crews arrived. No one was injured.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the home and kept it from spreading to nearby structures.

The home was a complete loss.
