The Kern County Fire Department is hosting their final free sandbag giveaway. Fire Department officials say this will be the last time you can go and get free sand and sand bags from departments across the county as they transition from emergency preparation to emergency response.

This final push focuses on the elderly as El Nino storms continue heading our way. Each address may pick up as many as 25 sandbags to use around their property.

You can get sand and sandbags at KCFD headquarters at 5642 Victor Street starting at 10 a.m. until noon on January 16th.

After that, you can get sandbag supplies at local home improvement stores and online.
