NAPA COUNTY, Calif. — Kern County firefighters are making their way to Napa County to help local fire departments during a red flag warning period.

Nine Kern County Fire Department firefighters were deployed to help the local California Governor's Office of Emergency Services strike team with staffing levels in the region.

A red flag warning is a "forecast warning" issued by the National Weather Service. In this case, agencies are preparing in the case of a wildfire and one that could spread faster due to strong winds in the forecast.

PG&E recently held an emergency power shut off in that area due to a possible wildfire threat.
