The Kern County Homeless Collaborative has announced a call to volunteers for their annual 'Point in Time' Count on January 30, 2019 from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Tina Posey, the Collaborative PIT Count Committee Chair said that the count helps member agencies strategically address the housing and service needs of individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The process of surveying helps to identify local trends among the homeless population such as families with children, unaccompanied youth, the chronically homeless and veterans and helps identify the magnitude of challenges such as drug use or mental/physical health issues.
Each worker is asked to attend a two hour training session and will be outfitted with the tools needed to conduct the count.
To participate, you can log in to End Kern Homelessness.
