Even in the midst of the impeachment process, President Donald Trump gave his third State of the Union Address, focusing on hot button issues including healthcare, immigration, and national security.
President Trump delivered his third State of the Union address on Tuesday night and Democrats and Republicans in Kern County had the TV's turned on.
The speech set the table for his run toward the November election with the theme of the speech centering on the "Great American Comeback" and focusing on health care. The president touched on national security saying the country's military's power is unmatched anywhere in the world. He also addressed immigration.
in Kern County, Republicans hosted a watch party at Rusty's Pizza on Ming Avenue where they showed their support for President Trump. In downtown Bakersfield, the State of the Union was eventually turned off and local Democrats continued with their monthly "Dinner with Democrats" focus on finding solutions for issues in Kern County.
The president laid out his vision for the final year of his first term in office, hoping his agenda will lead to a second.
But it was the end of the address that has been a topic of conversation as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ripped up her copy of President Trump's speech. In response to her reaction, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy responded on Twitter.
