Kern River Multi-Use path temporarily closing for three weeks due to emergency repairs

Posted

A section of the Kern River Multi-Use path will be temporarily closed starting Thursday, March 16 for up to three weeks.

The Kern County Water Agency will make emergency repairs to an existing berm from Allen Road to one mile west.

Repairs are necessary to ensure the integrity of the berm due to erosion and in preparation for increased water flow within the river channel due to impending snow melt.

The south bank of the Kern River channel in this area has eroded to within a few feet of the bike path due to near record high water flows from winter rain and snow storms.

The path, which is located on top of the berm needing repairs, will remain closed for the duration of the work within this area
