Posted

Elementary school students are getting schooled in the AG industry. This is all thanks to  “Farm day in the City”.

The annual event for 2nd to 4th grade students has been sponsored by the Kern County Farm Bureau for more than 30 years.

More than five-thousand kids visit the Kern County Fairgrounds to see exhibits involving farm machinery.. Livestock. And also demonstrations on AG-specific issues like water and pesticide use.

The goal for the event is to familiarize children with the importance of agriculture.

Beatris Sanders, Executive Director of the Kern County Farm Bureau said it's important because the kids are the next generation to come up with new farming technologies.
