They're a local charity looking to make a difference in the lives of children, giving away signed books to those who need them most.
Golden Heart Books, a non-profit based in Bakersfield, gathers books and gets them signed by Disney characters, Bakersfield police officers and firefighters. They then hand the books to children with disabilities, victims of bullying, and children struggling with illnesses.
Golden Heart Books is teaming up with the League of Dreams for the 2016 Basketball Tip-Off on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Riverlakes Ranch Community Park. The event starts at 1 p.m.
Anyone interested in donating books or funds to Golden Heart Books can take donations to The Gift Box on Chester Avenue.
