Four Red Cross volunteers from Kern County are heading to Texas to help when Hurricane Harvey hits late Friday night or early Saturday night.

Volunteers include a shelter worker from Frazier Park, a logistics worker and a damage assessment supervisor from Lake Isabella, and a public affairs supervisor from Bakersfield. The first three are reporting to Houston, and the public affairs volunteer is reporting to Baton Rouge, the Kern County Red Cross spokesperson said.

Hurricane Harvey is threatening to dump three free or more of rain over the coming days. Thirty counties in Texas are now under a state of emergency with some parts under a mandatory evacuation.
