Local woman creates GoFundMe to raise money for bullet proof vest for newest Bakersfield Police K-9

Posted

The community is coming together to help keep a local cop safe: a four-legged K-9 cop.

A local woman, Jodi Russell, has set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for a bullet proof vest for the newest Bakersfield Police K-9 officer.

In a post on the GoFundMe Page Russell says,

"I am doing all I can to help raise money for BPD's newest K9 officer. He's brand new to the department and he's been working to help keep Bakersfield safe for less than a week. But, he doesn't have a vest to keep him safe. All money raised will be donated directly to Bakersfield Police Departments Canine unit to get this dog a vest. Please support our four legged heros in blue and donate or share this campaign. Thank you in advance."

So far, the community has raised nearly $1,800. The goal is $2,500. If you would like to donate click here.
