Trial date set for son who killed his father after throwing rock at his head

UPDATE (October 13, 2017 12:10 p.m.): Kyri Vaughn, the man who threw a rock at his dad subsequently killing him has had his trial date set for December 04, 2017.

Vaughn is currently facing second degree murder and has had his bail set for $1,000,000.00.

A family argument went bad on Saturday when a man threw a rock at his father's head, putting his father in critical condition.

UPDATE: Father Stacey Duran Vaughn, 48, died Sunday morning at Kern Medical Center. The rock that was thrown, caused Vaughn to fall backward and hit his head on a light pole, according to the Kern County Coroner. 

The man was identified as Kyri Vaughn and was arrested for attempted murder. His charges may change.

Police say they responded to an assault on Hahn Avenue just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, arriving to find an unconscious man lying on the ground. The man was transported to a local hospital.

Police located Vaughn shortly after and determined that the two were arguing when Vaughn threw the rock at his father's head.
