BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A man who officials said molested eight kids as young as three-years-old while running a home daycare with his wife has been found guilty by a Kern County jury.
According to court documents, from 2006 to 2016 Armando Villanueva molested eight children ranging from ages three to 12 years old at a home daycare operated by him and his wife.
The jury convicted Villanueva of eight felony counts of lewd and lascivious act with a child under 14 years of age and two felony counts of oral copulation with a child under the age of 14 years.
Officials said he faces a potential life sentence and mandatory sex offender registration. He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 9.
In a statement, District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer said:
“The abuse of children by those entrusted with their care will not be tolerated in our community. Abuse of any child is unacceptable, and this case included multiple child victims."
