Memorial Day weekend events around town

This Memorial Day weekend is filled with events to honor those who gave their lives to protect our country.

If you would like to pay your respects, here are the events happening around Kern County.

Saturday:

      -Thousand Flags: Ceremony starts at noon at the Park at the River Walk. Every year the Bakersfield Rotary Club sets up the flags on Memorial Day Weekend.

      -Salute to our Fallen Heroes: Ceremony starts at 1:30 p.m., at the Kern Veterans Memorial on Truxtun Avenue in front of the Amtrack Station. This will be put on by the Kern County Veterans Service Department and the Kern Veterans Memorial Foundation.

      -Memorial Day Ceremony: The ceremony starts at 9 a.m. at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, at 30338 East Bear Mountain Blvd.

 
Monday:
 
      -Memorial Day Ceremony: This ceremony will be in Tehachapi, at Philip Marx Central Park, Mojave and E Street downtown. It will start at 10 a.m. with a guest speaker, then have a laying of the wreaths ceremony. There will be Veteran Organization Booths with information, as well as the Tomo–Kahni DAR providing free hot dogs and drinks.
