Mercy hospital downtown is offering a creative outlet for patients and community members to heal.
"It's a reminder to stay centered and listen to my inner self", said participant Diane Lobre.
The Art and Spirituality center holds a number of workshops from tai chi, to meditation and mandala art.
"I came in all stressed out and nervous and I left relaxed and ready to take on the day" said participant Linda Burruss.
Facilitator Barbara Burruss says the mandala class means sacred circle. The class holds has a five minute meditation before class which helps participants let go of any stress and put it all on paper.
"It's used in Buddhist traditions and it's a form of centering, with the colors representing different elements of the Buddha". Lobre says coming to the workshops has helped her meet new people and reconnect with things she loves. "Having a center like this, I get to socialize and learn new things and I can explore that inner child", said Lobre.
