More mail theft reported in northwest Bakersfield

Posted

Residents have reported more mailboxes have been broken into in northwest Bakersfield.

Neighbors posted on the NextDoor App and said individual home's mailboxes had been broken into.

This break-in is just one of a string in the northwest.

The U.S. Postal Inspectors office told 23ABC in an exclusive sit-down interview back in February they are upgrading security in these areas and trying to break down who exactly the thieves are.

If your mailbox is broken into or tampered with or broken into USPS officials said don't call your local branch, instead call 1-877-876-2455. Officials said dispatchers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Those dispatchers will reach out to the local branches.

USPS officials said residents should also contact their local lw enforcement office just to make them aware of the situation.
