UPDATE (Oct. 10 4:33 p.m.): Traffic is heavily backed up on highway 99 due to a canal rescue.

===============

KCFD is working on a swift water rescue north of highway 99.

CHP has shut down north and southbound lanes of State Route 99 as KCFD work to rescue at least one person inside a vehicle in a canal.

Around 4 p.m., a vehicle reportedly went off the road and into a canal due to a tire blowout.

A van is three fourths of the way submerged in the canal north of SR 99 and between 7th Standard Road and Lerdo Highway, according to officials.

Officials said at least one person is inside the van and CHP reports that the driver is conscious.

There is no information on how long the roads will be shut down.

23ABC has a crew enroute and will post updates as we receive them.
