BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — 23ABC is learning more details about the private citizens who jumped into action to help a woman who crashed a car Thursday night in their neighborhood.

A witness told 23ABC they heard a loud boom on Pinecastle Ave between Harris and Panama Lane. When they went to investigate they found a car that hit a fire hydrant and then a tree. The car then began to catch fire and the witness said he worked to pull a woman out of the car while another person grabbed a hose to try and put out the flames.

"I was terrified I was going to watch her burn to death so I had to just do what I could to help out," said Jason Suchin.

23ABC has no official report from the BPD and no word on the condition of the woman who was driving.
