The Bakersfield Police Department is on scene of a fatal crash in east Bakersfield.

According to BPD, an adult female was hit and killed by a car while crossing the street on East California and Baker Street just past 6:30 p.m. on Sunday night.

Officers say the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It's unknown if the victim was under the influence.

Traffic in the area is expected to be impacted for the next few hours.
