The Kern High School District hosted their 12th annual “Real Women Sing” workshop today at Bakersfield High School’s Harvey Auditorium.

Over 800 female high school choir singers from across the county came together to learn singing techniques from one of the best choir directors in the country.

Dr. Anna Hamre, President of the Western Division of the American Choral Directors Association and CSU Fresno choir director, was just as excited to teach them as they were to learn.

Dr. Hamre said that Bakersfield has one of the best choir programs in the state. “There is a commitment in Bakersfield for music for every kid and that is so important. We know that’s the best way children learn. So it’s fabulous that Bakersfield provides that for their children,” said Hamre.
