BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — A man was killed Saturday night after being struck by an SUV while walking across Highway 58 just south of H Street.
CHP reported that on Saturday, around 11:04 p.m., the driver of a 2012 Ford SUV was heading westbound on Hwy. 58 when the man, for unknown reasons, walked directly into its path. The driver was unable to stop in time and hit the man.
Westbound lanes along the 58 are shutdown with traffic being diverted onto H Street.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation and alcohol appears to be a factor.
