Residents in the Oildale area could be waking up to loud booms on Wednesday morning.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office is issuing a loud noise alert for the area just north of Meadows Field between 8-9:30 a.m.

KCSO bomb technicians will be detonating explosives as part of a planned training exercise for new academy trainees.

KCSO says, "Don't be alarmed: this is part of a regular training to familiarize new deputy recruits with bomb squad procedures."
