The first Bakersfield Marathon is less than two days away.

The race features the starting line and finish line celebration on the California State University, Bakersfield campus.

Participants will run through dozens of iconic neighborhoods including Downtown Bakersfield and the Kern County Museum before returning to the finish line on the scenic Kern River Parkway.

In addition to giving local runners an opportunity to run a Boston-qualifying marathon in their own backyard, Bakersfield will welcome 400 runners from across the country and around the world.

Visitors will likely stay at hotels around the city.

Homewood suites, located less than a mile from C.S.U.B tells 23ABC that they are completely sold out of rooms for the weekend.

Tomorrow participants will pick up their packets at the Buck Owens Crystal Palace. Runners will also have the opportunity to take part in the Health and Fitness Expo featuring various exhibitors, and tour the museum free of charge.

The online deadline to sign up for the marathon is Saturday at 11:59 p.m. You can also sign up at the crystal palace tomorrow between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Volunteers are also as needed. Click here to sign up.
