Bike Bakersfield and Bike Arvin are kicking off their annual Project Light Up the Night on November 1 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The organizations will be giving away free bike lights, helmets and safety education on November 1, 8, 15, 21 and 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. to help riders learn how to stay safe and visible.

On each of the dates, volunteers will be at 2 or 3 locations handing out lights and helmets.

The first location is at Bike Bakersfield on Chester Avenue.
