CHP warns of areal flooding along I-5 corridor

Despite gusty winds and rain, heavy at times, at the Grapevine Tuesday morning, 23ABC noted a fair amount of commuters along the I-5 corridor.

The area is expecting half an inch to three quarters of an inch today. However, due to the intensity of the rain at times, California Highway Patrol warns drivers of flooding potential.

Last October's storm that led to mudslides and areal flooding was a wake-up call to many Kern County residents. The storm also previewed what El Niño season could bring. Areas that saw storm damage in October could see the same throughout this El Niño season.

The National Weather Service has called for a Flash Flood Watch for elevations 6,000 feet and under for the day. For those above that mark, a Winter Weather Advisory was issued for Tuesday.

Stay safe out there!
