Officials with the Bakersfield Police Department were dispatched to the scene of a suspicious package in Central Bakersfield at around 9:46 a.m.
BPD officials got a call from an official with the DA's office. The box was located in the crosswalk Westside of L street and Truxtun Ave.
Sgt. Joe Grubbs with Bakersfield police said that officers noticed the object, the bomb squad was called out to investigate.
Sgt. Grubbs said a robot was used during the investigation, then a technician went to the object to determine it was not an explosive device.
During the investigation, nearby businesses were sheltered.
Sgt. Grubbs called this one of the quickest bomb squad responses they ever had.
Traffic was closed in both directions on Truxtun between Chester and M street.
