Ridgeview H.S. principal issues statement

23ABC reached out to the school district  who gave us a statement on behalf of  RIdgeview’s principal confirming there were just three fights on campus yesterday. But people we spoke with said it was worse than that.

“I saw videos of what went on and it’s very frightening,” said a concerned mother, who did not want to reveal her identity.

This video is one of many being shared with 23ABC, after reports of more than a dozen fights happening on school grounds that day.

Many parents and students worried about what was happening.

“It just went from one to six in not even five minutes,” said Senior, Tucker Harris.

23ABC reached out to the school district who told us there were only three fights on campus.

A source inside the school, who doesn’t want to be identified for fear of retaliation, told 23ABC there were 15 fights.

On Friday, we tried getting more information about the fights.

Ridgeview principal, Steve Holmes, sent us a statement through the school district once again confirming only three fights on campus Thursday.

His statement went on to say there were several "fake fights" reported yesterday.

In regards to the alleged fight videos being posted on social media - he cant confirm where or when those happened.

A parent who voiced her concern, saying she spoke to the school who told her this morning they were increasing security measures.

“It’s our responsibility to make sure that we are a part of the school and that we are aware,” said the parent.

The principal is urging parents with factual information to share that information with Ridgeview High administrators.

In his statement, he also said all situations are currently being investigated and students will face appropriate disciplinary action.
