UPDATE (September 11, 2017 12:23 p.m.): Opening statements in the Sabrina Limon trial began today Monday, September 11, 2017.
The district attorney began by stating that Sabrina Limon wanted her husband dead so that she and Johnathan Hearn could be together, so she could collect his $300K life insurance as well as his benefits from work.
The district attorney also read a letter written by Limon to Hearn in which she listed off all of the reasons she loved him. The district attorney also spoke about how both Limon and Hearn bought burner phones in hopes that the police wouldn't be able to track them.
Text messages between Limon and Hearn were also read during today's trial. Messages form Limon to Hearn read "I love you", "I adore you you sexy guy", and "I want to kiss you right now and not stop".
The defense argued that Limon and her husband, Robert Limon, had an open marriage, and had become a part of a group of swingers. The defense did not deny that Limon and Hearn were participating in an affair.
Kern County Sheriff's Office Senior Deputy Marcus Moncur was the first witnessed called to the stand by the people. He spoke about what he saw when he showed up to the scene, which included a Chevy pickup with a man's body laying against the driver's side front window.
After the people finished questioning Moncur, the defense began their line of questioning by asking which medical team was the first to show up on the scene.
The people then called Kern County Sheriff's Office deputy Anna Alvarez. Alvarez describes how she got on scene and saw a white man on his knees, clearly distraught when she approached him. This man was Shaun Ware.
Alvarez took pictures of the crime scene, which were submitted into evidence and were shown during the trial.
Shaun Ware was a colleague of Robert Limon's and worked with him in Tehachapi in 2014. Ware answered questions regarding when he met Robert and what it was exactly that he did at their workplace.
Ware said he got to work about 15 minutes before 7:00 p.m. on the day of Robert's death. He said he found the shop completely closed when he arrived, which he found unusual.
"At this point I'm thinking something is off" said Ware.
Ware then described how he saw the place completely disheveled, and found Robert on the ground with a pool of blood around his head.
Another employee at BNSF, Ryan Galindo also took the stand this morning and answered a few questions on Robert and things that pertained to his work.
Robert Garnes, another employee at BNSF also took the stand this morning. He also spoke about Robert, and what he knew regarding his personal life.
Garnes was dismissed, and the court dismissed for lunch. Court will resume again at 1:30 p.m.
