SIMULATION: Hall Ambulance takes 23ABC through how they respond to a stroke

Posted

Hall Ambulance took 23ABC through how they respond to a stroke and what steps they take to help the patient.

The average response time for a priority one call in the City of Bakersfield is eight minutes and 59 seconds for a stroke.

Ron Ostrom, medical director at Hall Ambulance, and Arnold Thomas, assistant manager of the Ambulance Division, walk through their response process.

The medics have three to four and a half window to administer a clot busting medication, tPA (Tissue Plasminogen Activator), for an ischemic stroke, so time is important.

May is National Stroke Awareness Month.
