TAFT, Calif. — The City of Taft has joined other municipalities around the county voting unanimously to place "In God We Trust" decals on police department vehicles.

Pastor Angelo Frazier asked the Taft City Council to place it on the agenda and Tuesday night the members voted 5-0 to approve it. Frazier says the decals are meant to promote patriotism, support first responder, and to remind people of our guiding principle.

Delano already has the decals, while the Tehachapi City Council voted down the idea 3-2. Frazier said he plans to bring the idea back before the Tehachapi council in the future.

The Taft police chief celebrated last night by putting a decal on his vehicle right after the vote.
