TAFT, Calif. — A Taft man is dead after a fatal collision involving another vehicle, according to officials.
On April 18 around 7:25 a.m., CHP was called out to Gardner Field Road for a traffic collision. Medical personnel was also dispatched at the time of the call.
During an investigation of the collision, officials learned that a 48-year-old male driving a 2006 Dodge Caravan was traveling north on Gardner Field Road of Southlake Road at an unknown speed.
At that time, 50-year-old Jorge Plascencia who was driving a 2018 Chevy Silverado was traveling on Gardner Field Road at approximately 55 mph toward the Dodge Caravan. The driver of the Dodge, for an unknown reason, crossed over into the opposing lane and collided with Plascencia's vehicle.
The driver of the Dodge, who has not been named by officials, sustained fatal injuries.
Plascencia, the driver of the Chevy, sustained major injuries and was transported to Kern Medical by Hall Air ambulance. In addition, 36-year-old Juan Plascencia who was a passenger of the Chevy sustained minor injuries.
Investigators say that drugs or alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision and all three were wearing a seat-belt at the time.
No arrests have been made.
