Taft Police will no longer patrol Taft College, as confirmed by Taft Chief of Police Ed Whiting.
The city of Taft wil be ending the contract between Taft Police Department and Taft College starting in January.
Taft Police Department's patrol staff is currently down two officers which led the chief of police to ask the Taft City Council to terminate the contract with the college.
In a staff report to the council, Chief of Police Ed Whiting specified that one of the officers had left Taft Police Department to take another job, while a second officer was out on disability.
The change will be permanent, according to Whiting.
