A large tree uprooted in Oildale early Friday afternoon because of the storm, destroying a fence and causing damage to a trailer.

One resident recalled the moment the tree fell.

"Just a loud bang. Like, watching TV and then all of a sudden it shuts off," said Cody Price.

"I thought it was an earthquake or something. So, we just went out and check it then we saw you guys were out here and we were like, something really bad happened."

The tree also took down a power line and the line remained active on the ground for several hours.

Kern County Fire was on the scene ensuring people did not walk near the power line until PG&E safely wrapped the line and put it out of reach.

As for the fence and trailer, one resident said that she felt lucky that the damage was minimal.

"It was very overwhelming and just a big shock to see that," said Jennifer David, whose backyard was affected most by the fallen tree.

"It could have been worse. I work in that area a lot, getting things cleaned up and it could have been me under that tree today."
