BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The trial of the two disgraced ex-Kern County Sheriff's Deputies has been pushed back to May.
Derrick Penney and Logan August are facing a number of felony charges including conspiracy and burglary. The charges date to as far back as 2014. According to the federal investigation, August and Penney stole 25 pounds of marijuana from the sheriff's office evidence locker which they allegedly sold for profit.
Their trial was originally set for January 7, but now is scheduled for May 6. Both Penney and August have a readiness hearing set for April 26.
