Just after 9:30 a.m. a water main at the corner of Lowell Drive and Barnett Street burst, sending thousands of gallons of water down the street.
Oildale mutual water officials tell 23ABC that the water main burst has affected Highland Elementary School.
Highland principal, Tonny Gisbertz said the school has no water as a result of the burst and school will be shutting down for the rest of the day.
Officials say that parents need to pick up their children and water will be provided for the students and staff who are still at the school.
