The Valley Fever America's Foundation (VFAF) wants everyone who has a Valley Fever t-shirt to wear it on Wednesday, November 16 to bring awareness to the disease.
Rob Purdie, newly appointed Valley Fever Americas Foundation Board Member and Project Chairman, shared that an easy way to get involved is to post a shirt selfie to social media to help start conversations about the symptoms and risk of serious illness. Purdie himself was diagnosed with Valley Fever meningitis in 2012 and takes medication daily to keep it under control.
If you don't have a shirt, you can stop by Dagny's in downtown Bakersfield on November 16 between 9:00 a.m. and noon to pick one up. Shirts will be available in return for a donation of $20.
There is also the opportunity to pick up a shirt and free information at John's Incredible Pizza on Rosedale Highway on November 16 between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
The event serves as a mini-fundraiser: If you tell the cashier you are with the Valley Fever group, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the foundation.
