VAN NUYS, Calif. — A burned body was found stuffed in a shopping cart near a park in Van Nuys. Authorities say the body was discovered Tuesday at a homeless encampment.
According to the Los Angeles Coroner's Office, the body was too badly burned to immediately determine its gender or how the person died. The incident follows a string of fire attacks on homeless people around the Los Angeles area.
A man was killed last month after his tent was set on fire outside a homeless shelter on Skid Row and another homeless person was charged with his death.
