Officials say the Walker Fire is the state's largest wildfire so far this year, as the blaze has grown to over 44,000 acres. The Walker Fire which broke out last Wednesday has consumed over 68 square miles in the remote mountains about 150 miles northeast of Sacramento. So far the fire is only 10 percent contained.
Mandatory evacuation orders are in place to several rural communities, including Antelope Lake, the Genesee Valley, and Ward Creek area. Evacuation orders in the Milford and Brockman Canyon communities have been lifted but residents are being warned to be prepared to leave again.
So far no structures have been destroyed and no injuries have been reported.
