HOMESTEAD, Pennsylvania (KGTV) -- Police are responding in force to a mental health facility in Homestead, Pennsylvania, where a man is reportedly inside and armed with a gun and a knife.
According to WTAE-TV, a woman outside the building reported getting a text message from her niece, who said she is inside and being held hostage.
An employee inside the building told a WTAE reporter that she and several others were hiding in a locked office. The worker said she knew of at least two people who were stabbed and another person who was pistol-whipped.
The 5-story facility is called Steel Valley Health Center and Blind & Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh. It is an outpatient facility that also serves as a temporary residence for mental health patients.
