Things started great for the CSUB baseball team. They won 4 of the season's first 6 games. But since then they've struggled; picking up just one win in their last 21.
After Friday's game was rained out, the Runners entered against Sacramento State riding a 12 game losing streak.
Freshman Andrew Hansen (Centennial) got the start in search of his second win on the year. He went seven strong giving up three runs. In the bottom half of the seventh his offense picked him up.
With two outs in the seventh Dustin Frailey came to the plate with the bases loaded and slapped a hit into right field scoring two. Mahlik Jones followed with a hit to right to score Jake Ortega and the Runners had their first lead of the game.
Isaiah Moten came in relief to close out the ninth and the Runners picked up their 6th win on the season. "It feels great and I feel great for the players too. They've been grinding, grinding, grinding," said first year coach Bob Macaluso. "It was a really good comeback against a really good pitcher. That was the best guy we've seen this year by far."
CSUB earned their first win in WAC play (1-6) while the Hornets dropped their first (6-1)
The Runners were losing 6-3 in the second game of their double header before rain suspended play. Play will resume with the top of the ninth inning Sunday at 11 A.M.
