In the home opener for the CSUB women's soccer team, and the first home game of of the 2016-17 season for CSUB athletics, the Runners beat Fresno State 4-2.

First half it was Sabrina Delgado heading home a cross from Keneika Webster to score the Runners' first goal of the season.

But playing in front of her hometown fans for the first time Sophie Freeman, a freshman from Garces, stole the show. Freeman put in a perfect cross that was headed home by Jordin Bartel before floating a shot over the Bulldog keeper for her first division one goal. Post game she told 23ABC that it was just a bit sweeter because it was scored in front of her mom on her birthday.

Freeman's goal made it 3-0 CSUB but Fresno State would respond. Two goals from Myra Delgadillo kept things interesting before Delgado struck again with 39 seconds left to play.

It was the Runners first win of the season after falling 2-0 to Sacramento State earlier in the week.
