The Bakersfield AIDS Project held their annual World AIDS Day candlelight vigil Tuesday.
The event’s purpose is to put humanity and faces behind the statistics and to help make sure the community is aware of the resources they have available to prevent infection.
Recent students have shown that Kern County ranks as one of the highest in the state with high rates of sexually transmitted diseases including AIDS.
World AIDS Day is Thursday.
