The students of Bethel Christian School got the chance to get out of the classroom and check out the solar eclipse Monday.

The students used the eclipse glasses to watch as the solar eclipse happened.

“Our school was able to get these glasses so we were able to look up instead of having to watch it on TV. It’s a pretty great opportunity," said student Daniel Kilgore.

The day was Star Wars themed as students took a trip to "the dark side."

Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Yoda and other characters were in attendance taking pictures and practicing their fighting.

Students admired the sun with the special glasses and used their homemade cardboard box viewers.

A few students got to use "Storm Trooper helmets" fully equipped with eclipse glasses and all.

Overall many of the students were excited to be able to experience the eclipse outside, “It’s a great opportunity, I know a lot of schools aren’t having it because of like the dangers of looking up at the sun right now.”
