BPD investigating two robberies that happened in Southwest Bakersfield

Bakersfield police are looking for the suspects responsible for two possibly related robberies that happened Saturday within a couple of hours of each other in Southwest Bakersfield. 

The first robbery happened just after 2:30 p.m. on North Half Moon Drive, near Edgemont Drive, when three teens approached a man and demanded his cell phone and backpack. 

BPD says the suspects left with the loss, occupying a two-door Blue Honda Civic. They are described as Black and in their late teens. 

The second robbery happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Grissom Street. 

An 80-year-old woman says she was approached by a suspect who grabbed her purse and knocked her to the ground. 

She also says she was drug several feet before losing hold of her purse. BPD says the woman suffered minor injuries. 

The suspect is described as a Black or Hispanic teen between the ages of 15 and 19 years old, and BPD says he got into a two-door Blue Honda Civic that was waiting for him. 

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call BPD at 327-7111.
