Local government officials are gathering Wednesday morning to talk about the death penalty in California.

Kern County District Attorney Lisa Green, Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood and Gwendolyn Turner will speak in front of the Kern County Superior Court at 10 a.m.

The group of law enforcement, prosecutors, and victim’s families are sharing their stance of voting no on Proposition 62 and yes on Proposition 66.

Proposition 66 reforms the death penalty by keeping it in place, but changing procedures to speed up the appeals process. The prop would also require prisoners on death row to work while in prison and pay restitution to victims’ families.
