BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern High School District announced it is pausing all in-person instruction, athletics, and activities by the end of the day Wednesday due to the rise in COVID-19.

Distance learning and virtual support services for all students will remain in effect until it’s safe and appropriate to resume in-person instruction, supports, and services.

The district said it will continue to deliver daily distance learning and virtual support services to all students from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with additional instructional support time between 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.

Daily meal service to students will continue from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on all comprehensive high school campuses and Nueva Continuation High School, and from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Arvin High School.

This announcement coming just moments after the CIF announced the postponement of high school sports until Jan. 2021.
